How to Import Data to CRM as an Activity

Hello, all. Would like to ask if you could help me determine steps in importing data to CRM and tag it as an Activity. So in a way, we can do a schedule once or twice a month. Is this even feasible? Help!

If you don`t want to use Flow or coding method, take a look at Skyvia. With help of it, you can make schedule import/export once or twice a month or even once per minute.

This worked GREAT for me (after trying to do it the wrong way by viewing activities, then doing an export, etc. and getting tons of errors).  Just use the template and save yourself a huge headache!  In case anyone needs instructions, go to Workplace > Activities > choose "All Phone Calls" instead of "All Activities" (or whichever activity type you're trying to import) > 3 dots menu > Excel Template > Create Excel Template.  Worked like a dream for me.

Using the Import Wizard, how would I go about mapping the Activity entity to the Contact Entity, as I don't see a "Regarding" Contact field?  I need to import activities, per each Contact record in our system.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

You can import Activities like any other data in CRM.

I will recommend you to download the import  template for an activity type first, say Appointment to start with. Now open this template in Excel and add the records that you wish to create in CRM.

Add the required information and import this file in CRM using the Import Data wizard. You should see the activities in your Activities view.

    Hope this was helpful.

    Thanks,

    Hi Calypso,

This is also possible to do manually with the built-in Data Import Wizard. It is possible to import any activity type including appointments, phone calls, tasks, etc.

    Settings>Data Management>Imports.

The data needs to be in csv or xml format but it's the easiest and most direct way of doing this. If you need to automate this process then Marco has a good option, or there are a number of 3rd party tools that can help with this as well, e.g. Scribe Online, Informatica, Riva, CozyRoc, etc.

    Hi Calypso,

Yes, you can develop a tool that read your source data and maps them in the activity entity.

You must write some code to perform this. Then the exe file produced must be added at Scheduled Tasks in you server. Read SDK to perform this (www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx)

    Let me know.

    Bye
