Duplicate Detection Rule

Hi,

I have set up a duplicate detection rule on the contact entity on D365 online CRM

- It works for me when I enter duplicate contact manually {pops up message saying contact exists already)

- It works for me when I do import set of contact records x number success and y number fails because of duplicate

- It works for another user when the user enter manually (pops up duplicate detection saying contact already exists)

- It does not work for any other users when they import contacts....duplicates are written to contact entity. In fact it shouldn't/

Any idea why it is not working for other users? roles are fine....all are having same roles.

    Hi Rao,

Seems this is data issue I guess , duplicate detection rules does not have any user dependency or role dependency. If its works for one user then its should be work for other user as well .

Try to do with similar data import file which works for another user .

that's what I reckon too. yes we have tried exactly the same data between other users....still get Success...duplicates are not detected. also this happens only during the 'Import' yes same file for all of us

    Hi there,

There is a Allowed Duplication setting on the Data Import wizard.

Sounds like your other users have set "Allowed Duplication" to "Yes" then they did the data import...

    Hi Rao,

If the second user is importing file with .xml format, there may be a slight twist regarding duplicate detection that should be considered. If your duplicate detection rule contains both a string and a lookup field you may not get the expected result during import of an .xml file.

    See: ledgeviewpartners.com/.../dynamics-crm-importing-duplicate-detection

    Hope this helps.
