Insight works just uses the standard BC functionality. I would recommend reading on cross-dock functionality here: Cross-Dock Items - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

A few things to make note of.
    • You should setup a receipt zone and a shipment zone with bins
    • Setup a separate Cross-dock zone that has picks and put-aways
    • Create a PO and a sales order for the same items
    • In BC when you create the warehouse receipt make sure to select Calculate Cross-dock. When you calculate cross-dock quantities, put-away lines to the cross-dock bin for cross-dock calculations are created when you post the receipt. Other put-away lines are created as usual.
    • With the warehouse insight scanner app you can then process the warehouse receipt and put-away, the put-away should be for the cross-dock bin for the same quantity as the sales order.
    • When you create a shipment, the item is automatically picked from a cross-dock bin before any other bin. You must look in the cross-dock area to see whether the items you need are available there before you get the items in their usual storage area.

Insight works then just uses the standard settings from BC. All it really does is display info that is prepared in BC.

Hopefully that helps you a bit. I'd recommend setting all this up in a test company. The Cronus company has cross-docking scenarios in the WHITE warehouse.

    Thanks @Teagen
I have done all the setups in BC. But i have still some questions:
Q1: in insight works app we have different features like item inquiry, bin inquiry, receive, putaway etc
So this functional should we build in receive section in insight works app??
Like when we open that receive section/feature we see all the POs which are released but not received right. So in that receive section should i build the functionality of Cross dock or is it already there?? If not there, then exactly how should i build the logic for example while i am receiving the Inventory against those POs system should give me exact same button which we have in BC like calculate cross dock etc them we reserve the quality for the designated sales order where the items are needed?? What should be the functionality please someone guide me i want to handle the cross dock functionality through this warehouse insight works app??

    Hello,

To build cross-dock in Insight Works, you shouldn’t invent new warehouse logic — you should trigger standard Business Central cross-docking from the mobile flow. In BC, cross-docking requires an advanced warehouse location with Use Cross-Docking enabled and a Cross-Dock bin defined, and on Warehouse Receipt you must run Calculate Cross-Dock so BC fills Qty. to Cross-Dock based on outbound demand. When the receipt is posted, BC moves that quantity to the cross-dock bin, and picks will prioritize it. So your Insight Works logic should: receive the item → trigger or replicate Calculate Cross-Dock before put-away creation → ensure the put-away line places the cross-dock quantity into the cross-dock bin. The safest approach is to subscribe to the warehouse receipt/posting process and call the standard cross-dock calculation logic rather than creating custom allocation rules.
