Planned Orders with no Route

I have a problem I can't fix.  We have a number of orders giving a capacity error when MRP runs.  Those errors actually turn into planned orders but they ignore the Route and consume no capacity.  They plan as a "vendor" instead of "machine" in the type field.  Any ideas of how to make these push out when the calendar is closed or what settings I can look at?

To address the issue start by ensuring that your route are correctly configured. It should be set to consume machine capacity, and the associated resource group and capacity type must align accordingly. Additionally, verify that MRP settings are configured to consume capacity by ensuring the “Consume capacity” checkbox is checked in the route operation setup. It is also essential to review the production calendar to confirm it accurately reflects working hours and holidays, as an incorrect calendar can prevent proper scheduling of planned orders. Furthermore, ensure that lead times in the BOM and route are appropriately set to allow planned orders to push out correctly, and that resource leveling settings are preventing overloading. By adjusting these settings, you can ensure that MRP processes planned orders accurately, utilizing the correct resources and avoiding scheduling conflicts.

    Planned Orders with no Route
    Hi,

Could you send a screenshot of your resource requirements? Normally, to have a vendor as type is due to the resource requirements being set as requirement resource as "resource type", instead the requirement resource should be set to resource on the route.

Also, if your coverage groups for the items are set for the requested production status to be scheduled at planned order stage, the system will automatically schedule the order backwards from the delivery date. The system will still generate a new planned order even without any resources, but without capacity reservations on it. If you update your route with the respective resource and regenerate master plan on the net requirements you will see capacity being reserved.

If you then check your master plans/ resources/resource groups and tick ' finite capacity' , you will have the respective capacity taken place according to your calendar. For example, if your calendar is close for a week and you firm the planned order and schedule it with 'finite capacity', reservation will take place on the first day your calendar is open again. Another option will also be to schedule the production order foward from schedulling date, and set the date for when you want to reserve the order.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks
    Marta

Normally the "Type" field would say machine and it would have the resource field filled in.  Our forecast is driving more than we have open capacity to build and all of those items get a planned order with no capacity instead of getting pushed out.
