Append/Append To

Hey,

So I have read a lot about append and append to permissions and what they mean. but I am having a problem because I am trying to limit permissions for my users when they are attaching notes to cases.

I have tried creating security roles and playing around with what will allow certain security roles permission to attach notes to a case.

However, no matter what I do, either Append Case and Append To Note, or Append Note and Append To Case, it is letting the person with this security role attach notes...

Therefore, does attaching notes to cases have anything to do with append or append to?

All the examples in other forum answers talk about account records and attaching the primary contact, but when I follow those examples I don't get the same result with cases.

Thanks!

    Hi Katherine,

Here is your answer for Case and Notes by MS, read in Access Rights->Append.

you need to play with "Append" privilege on note entity and "Append to" privillege on case entity.

    Hi,

Thank you all for your responses. Surmeet, that article talked more about why notes should not be used, but I do need to use them for certain business processes..

Chitra, I have played around with it by creating a security role with no other append/append to privileges other than append note and append to case. Then I switched a user to just this security role and tested it, and I could add a note to a case.

Then, to play around, I switched the security role permissions to append case and append to note, just to check. I then signed back into the user profile with this security role, and tried it again. I could still attach cases.

Therefore, I am looking for what permissions control who and when notes can be attached to other entities, and whether append and append to permissions have anything to do with it.

    Thanks

    KatherineJ:

You need to look at if the User is assigned to a Team if so what security role does that Team(s) have

    Hope this helps
