Custom Legacy Applications and Unified Interface deadline

(0) ShareShare

We have a custom legacy MSCRM solution that runs on every version of MSCRM on-premise from 2013 through latest version and MSCRM online. It currently does not support the Unified Interface. The earliest we can update the system to work with the Unified Interface is late next year (Fall of 2021).

So, question is at what point in time will our system no longer work for our customers given inability to work in Unified Interface?

Thanks!

    Hi Partner,

Here's an update as of today regards to Legacy web client and UCI

As of September 2019, the legacy web client is deprecated. Customers must transition to Unified Interface before December 1, 2020. Microsoft will continue to provide support, security and other critical updates to the legacy web client until December 1, 2020 but won't release any additional functionality beyond what has already been announced.

On December 1, 2020, the legacy web client will no longer be available. Organizations should make the transition to the Unified Interface as soon as possible to take advantage of Microsoft’s ongoing investments in reliability, performance, and functionality.

Thank you for the great reply! What about MSCRM online versus on-premise? I saw some comments that the December 1, 2020 deadline only applied to online and not on-premise? But also have not seen anything about on-premise changes.

    Thanks,

    Doug

    Hi Partner,

As far as I know, There's no news for On-premise web client deprecation as of now, Majorly the deadline is for online environment.

    Hello Doug,

The deprecation announcement for the legacy web client only applies to online customers.
This is highlighted in this FAQ: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/model-driven-apps/faqs-transition-unified-interface#how-does-this-move-impact-on-premises-customer-and-what-will-happen-when-the-web-client-is-deprecated-do-web-client-forms-become-unsupported

Dynamics CRM on-premise product lifecycle is documented here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/search

When migrating from on-premise to online, you will need to transition to Unified Interface as part of the migration.

    Henry
