Changing icons of global entities

Posted on by

Hello all,

I have been trying to accomplish this task for a while and have not yet found any solutions yet.

We are trying to change the icons of global entities, such as Invoice, Contact, Project, etc. All other resources only discuss changing icons for custom entities.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Leibish Ringel

    Hi Leibish,

Are you using Dynamics 365 V9 with Unified Interface? If so, you can set the icon from the App designer for the entities based on a (custom) image as a web resource.

More info: Add a subarea to a group in the site map

    Hi Stefan,

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, We are using V9 with the Unified Interface. I already set the icons within the app designer. But that only sets it for the icon within the menus, and not on the entity itself.

We need to set the icon for an entire entity across the board.

    Thank You!

    Hi Leibish,

Could you provide a screen shot to show the difference?

    Hi Stefan,

Thank you for your response and offering assistance!

Below is a screenshot that includes the Claim (renamed from Invoice) Entity within the App menu on the left, and the view on the right. Note that the icon within the menu is not the same as within the header of the view.

Ok, they should be the same i guess. If you clear your browsing data, does it make a difference?

If this doesn't make any difference, I assume that's the limitation of changing the icon of standard entities. The App designer offers the possibility to set the icon for the sitemap / navigation only.

    Hi,

if you want to update the icon for header of the view, you have to open the customization of entity, select update icon, select unified interface.

if you want to update the navigation menu icon, you have to open the app designer.

Please note that, some system entities are not open for update icon and unfortunately Invoice is one of them.
