Import of Item with attributes

Hi Community,

I'm trying to find a way of importing items with attributes into BC. To import Items I have used Configuration Packages and exported/imported table 27 via Excel, which went fine. Now my problem is to add attributes to the Items. I have found the tables:

  • 7500 - Item Attribute No
  • 7501 - Item Attribute Value
  • 7505 - Item Attribute Mapping

and how they are linked together. This would mean that the attribute values goes into table 7501 and the mapping between item and attribute goes into 7505.

Is there another way or maybe an easier way, of importing Items with attributes into BC?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

there are three ways you can import the data in system.

    1. Use of Configuration Package

    2. Edit in Excel feature. Refer the below link Edit in excel section for more information.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../across-work-with-excel

    3. Copy and Paste method go to Item attributes page copy the entire line paste it in excel add your value copy the values not the header from excel and select the line which i have highlighted in the below screenshot and paste it.

    Thank you for your answer.

When using option 1, how can I add Attribute values to the attributes? The tables (7501 and 7505) I can export and import but filling them with the values are not straight forward due to the numbering/refrerences in the tables.

    Hi,

Try to export the data in below manner and import and apply data one at time.

    1. Export the item attribute table and fill the value , import the data and apply it.

    2. Export the item attribute value table and fill the value, import the data and apply it.

    3. Export Item attribute mapping table and fill the value , import the data and apply it.

if you still face any issue then please attached the screenshot of that error too.

It is not straight forward because to have to correlate the values to the assigned value that BC adds. However, once you figure that out the Config Pack works well.

If attributes are consistent with your item categories, you can add multiple attributes to categories.

You may need to reapply the categories to the items to trigger attribute creation but it is the most simple method for adding attributes if it is appropriate for your data.

Hi, I once made a small tool for importing items with attributes, the code of the imported attribute below, I hope it can give you some inspiration.
