Switching Keyboard Layouts

Has anyone figured out a way to have 2 custom keyboards at a POS station?

I can configure the POS stations to use one or the other but not both, as we need a requirement to process to standard sales but also process quotes.  To ease the process of creating quotes, I have created a custom keyboard with various macros etc. but we do not want this keyboard as the main use as it will limit what actions can be performed.

Plus I don't want the hassle of having to keep altering the POS station each time quotes are processed!

How about using the new taskpad functionality.  You could then use a different cashier id for creating quotes, this id would then load the other Quote only Taskpad.

The only issue is it hides the function keys at the bottom of the screen when enabled.

    Hi Ed,

Thanks for your response.  Didn't cross my mind to use taskpads as it's something we currently don't use.

The problem I'm encountering now is I've done as you suggested of creating a new cashier and assigning the taskpad to that ID, but when logging into the POS with that ID, I get nothing!  I get the generic blank taskpad but not the one I've created.

Any clues why?  I've gone through the settings to see if there's anything I've overlooked but no success.

    Thanks,

    Rob

So you have the taskpad assign under the cashier.  Did you assign a taskpad under Register properties.

You could try changing this from <Use Classic View> to any of the taskpads.  You shouldn't have to, just a thought.

Also I would like to know which version you are on and do you have any Hotfixes applied.  Hotfix #37 corrected somethings with taskpads.

I tried assigning the taskpad to the register as well, still the same outcome.

I'm on version 2.0.1000.  Haven't applied any hotfixes since FP2.  Going to look through the latest realeases since that.  If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

Did you restart the POS program on the station.  I know the Manager program says that the changes are available immediately but this is not the what I have seen. You have to restart the POS for the Taskpads to update.

I have the same POS version that you have without hotfixes and have tried it and it works fine on mine.  It might be a sql version, I use 2008 R2, or could be a database issue.

Also have changing the setting under Screen( Ctrl - F6) within POS.

    Hi Ed,

Made sure to restart the POS program after every change I made.  Applied 2 hotfixes which now allows the taskpad to show but only half of it!  The task pads now seem to overlap one another.  I'm running the same version of server as you.

Going to try adjusting the sreen settings on the POs as currently it is set to "TaskPad" rather than "Classic View".

Starting to think these new "features" are not what they are made out to be...
