2, Is there any already existing case study ?

    RE: Siebel to Microsoft dynamics

    Hi,

1 - As for mass migration you have the following options.

    a) Use the out-of-the-box CRM Import Tool.

    b) Import the data via CSV files.

    c) Write a custom application that uses the SDK and import data via CRM Web Services.

    d) Import the data using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) via CRM Web Services.

    e) Import the data using a 3rd Party tool i.e. Scribe

2- As cases studies i have no idea.

How many months it will take ?

    - It will really depends. You should implement the dynamics CRM first and make all the customizations and only them start the data migration.

    RE: Siebel to Microsoft dynamics

    Hello,

This has become a fairly frequent implementation for us. Lot's of people moving off of Siebel and onto Dynamics CRM.

    1. The Data Import Wizard is the only mass data import tool available out of the box/inbuilt. Most will go with SSIS or one of several 3rd party tools available.

    2. The best case study available is from Microsoft themselves. Microsoft had one of the largest Siebel implementations at one time, now all migrated to Dynamics CRM.

The experience we have had are the most users/customers are much happier with Dynamics CRM. They find it easier to use, faster, much lower cost to implementation and support. A lot of good information is available in the whitepaper link above.

    RE: Siebel to Microsoft dynamics

Hi PUGALAGIRI.  Just wanted to say that I used to work for Siebel as a software developer when I first started out and I've been working with MS Dynamics for the past 7+ years.  I'd have to say that if I compared the two, the biggest thing I'd say is that MS Dynamics is much cleaner, simpler, and easier to understand and use.

Siebel was a pretty complex application that was built to do many different things out of the box and users had the ability to change a few things after they installed the application.  MS Dynamics on the other hand provides core functionality out of the box but if you want specific functionality for your industry, you can configure it pretty simply and have a lot of tools at your disposal to do it (plus 3rd party add-ons that are easy to install).  Siebel built these vertical applications with their core product.

I like the idea of being able to customize the application myself versus buying the application customized because everyone's business isn't exactly the same.  It's more often a pain to back out core functionality if it doesn't apply to you versus building it from scratch.

Good luck and welcome to the MS Dynamics world!

    RE: Siebel to Microsoft dynamics

    Hi Pugalagiri,

As Tiago Santos typed, you can use Import Wizard to migrate your data. Import tool is very interesting and easy to use. Tip: just take care the process and sequence to import your data; that's the secret.

Microsoft is the best case study. They were Siebel's users and then they just use Microsoft Dynamics. But you can get a check on "Replacing Siebel Using Microsoft Dynamics CRM" document on this link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/8/D/38D75E87-0A75-4356-9A07-6B262773BA9D/1541ReplacingSiebelUsingDynamicsCRMBCS.docx

About the time, depend on how much data you have. That can be very quickly if you know exactly the sequence to import your data. But in a few weeks you can be playing with Dynamics CRM.

    Best regards,

    Éber Gustavo

If Siebel is on Oracle DB, then Skyvia should help you. This 3-rd party tool allows you to migrate data without coding. it is quite easy-to-use and has convenient UI: https://skyvia.com/data-integration/integrate-dynamics-crm-oracle
