Inventory control - how to manage products sold in lengths/ cutting metal lengths into 2 new lengths

I am working with a manufacturer who will be buying in lengths of metal at 6m, they would like to stock these as whole units e.g. 20 x 6m lengths.

During their Production Process using BOM they will be cutting parts of the 6m length to create 1m of metal for the BOM and having 5m length left to be used later.

How would you handle this within D365 BOM and Inventory and also will a BOM look at all lengths and then use the most suitable - e.g. if no 6m lengths look at 5m lengths.

Not sure the best way to handle this case.

I have the same question (0)
