Smartlist Builder reports

So I seem to have a catch -22 here.

We just acquired smartlist builder and one problem we're having is that users are unable to see reports they create until I give them permission.  This seems pretty inefficient...is there a way around this?

Thanks

    Nope - that's the way SmartList security is designed.

    A client of our had a similar problem.   They made a bunch in SLB with just a "junk" table and a name, saved them, and granted security to advanced users.  they called these "shells".

    then when they wanted a new SmartList they could just start with one of the "shells" that they already had security to... (changing the name and removing the "junk" table)

    This is how GP has been for quite some time and there is no plans to change this. Security is a tricky topic as some people want it one way and others another way. This is the best way we feel for the application to be secure.

    @Jonathan Fear,

    I recommend allowing some variability for the customer's to determine if additional access to SMB or EB Reports is needed based on the the security levels of the person generating the report.  For instance, if someone has access to the Accounting, Inventory, and Sales,  functions and creates a report that utilizes the Accounting, Inventory, and Sales tables, there is no reason that they need to be granted access to their report.  It seems like a redundant level of security to me.

    However, if someone in Operations was trying to access financial tables and they do not have access to general ledger or reporting, that would indicate a possible security issue that should be reviewed.

    I can only think that there are many SLB or EB reports that will be developed after hours or on weekends that will sit and wait for approvals to gain access to.

    I believe that Microsoft needs to change their position on this.
