Hello Experts,

In the Fixed Asset card, there is a Maintenance Tab is there. My Client has query that if he will mention the Next Service Date on Fixed Asset Card then there will be any Notification received by him before 15 days of Next Service date?

And Why should we maintain the 2 Different fields, Vendor no. and Maintenance Vendor No.? Can anyone give me the example of the same.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

The Next Service Date field indicates the upcoming date on which service and repairs are scheduled for each asset.

The system does not automatically send notifications for the Next Service Date on the Fixed Asset Card. However, you can generate the Maintenance - Next Service report to get an overview of upcoming service dates for your assetsThis report allows you to define a period for the assets included, helping you track when services are due.

    Vendor No.

    • Refers to the vendor from whom the asset was purchased.
    • This is important for tracking purchase history, vendor agreements, warranties, etc.
    • It links to the acquisition transaction in the system.
    Maintenance Vendor No.
    • Refers to the vendor responsible for maintaining or servicing the asset.
    • Useful for scheduling maintenance, managing service contracts, or tracking maintenance costs.

    Example:

Let’s say your company has purchased a Photocopier.

    Vendor No. = CONTOSO01
(Contoso Ltd. sold you the photocopier)

    Maintenance Vendor No. = SERVICEPRO02
(ServicePro Ltd. maintains and services the photocopier)

    In this setup:

If you need to check where the asset came from or review the purchase invoice, you refer to Vendor No.

If the photocopier breaks down or needs a routine service, you look at the Maintenance Vendor No. to contact the right service provider.

Hope this will help you. Please do not forget to mark as an answered if you get your answer.

    Thank You.

Business Central does not send automatic notifications for the “Next Service Date” by default, but this can be achieved through customization.

Vendor No. and Maintenance Vendor No. can be the same or different, depending on the business scenario:

When the asset is purchased and maintained by the same vendor, both fields can have the same value.
Example: You buy a machine from "TechEquip Ltd." and also sign an AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) with them for servicing.

When the asset is purchased from one vendor but maintained by another, the fields will be different.
Example: You purchase a forklift from "HeavyMach Corp.", but maintenance is handled by a local service provider "LiftServ Solutions."
