CRM 2011 database

Hi. I know we work with CRM on the metadata-level. Is there any way to open a crm database? For getting/setting datas we export/import  .xml files. Now can we read/write immediately from/into the CRM database?

I ask this question because I need to integrate some SQL database with CRM database ( datas must move from one into another database ).

Please if you know any way to make it work tell me.

Thanks!

Mary, technically as long as you have access to the SQL Server database server, there is nothing to stop you progamatically writing to the CRM database using T-SQL. But it's a really, really bad idea.

It is likely to lead to unexpected errors and issues. It will leave your CRM system in an unsupportable and un-upgradable state.

There are lots of supported methods for integrating other data sources with Dynamics CRM, so why not use one of those? Here's a useful overview and some recommended options: social.technet.microsoft.com/.../3995.integrate-microsoft-dynamics-crm.aspx

Neil is definitely right there, don't try writing to the CRM database directly. You can, however work with CRM through its web services interface and integrate SQL databases using various 3rd party solutions. I'd recommend checking out Starfish ETL on that list, it's very powerful and should do what you're looking for.

    Hi Mary,

Ultimate solution is use of BizTalk Server as the Middle Tier.

SQL DB  <--> BizTalk Server <--> CRM DB

If you can use BizTalk and for further clarifications...please mail me.

    DHB.
