BOM Component Usage based on Multifactor of Finished Product

Hi

I kind of stuck here.

We have a product that we produce as a Lbs. Now we each 30 lbs of this product we need to consume 1 lbs of another product. But I do not know how to setup the bom here. I mean Fixed Qty does not work since it will not consume extra 1 lbs if I create 60 lbs.

What is your suggestion here?

For example

If we produce 30 lbs we consume 1 lbs

If we produce 45 or 55 lbs we still consume 1 lbs

if we produce 60 or 75 or 85 lbs we consume 2 lbs.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

If you setup an item with a Rounding Precision of 1.0 then it's always rounded up to the next whole number.

Example: I make a door that is 1' x 2' from a piece of Plywood that is 4' x 8' - I need 1 Piece of plywood to make 1 door.  Or 1 piece of Plywood to make 16 doors.

In your example, if you have an item and have .0167 of that item - then it should use 1lbs (rounded up) from 1 lbs to 59 lbs, and use 2 lbs to make 60 to 119 etc....

Try it and see if I am right.

Hi, Sorry I didn't test it again, can Fixed Quantity do it?

No - Fixed Qty appears only once per production order.  The common use is either cleaning out a machine (ie: you need to run 100lbs of plastic through an extruder when you start each production order) or for destructive testing (you need to cut the first casting in half to check for porosity/air bubbles.

The only way to do it is what I've suggested (I think).

    Hi Robert Jolliffe

You suggestion was brilliant. It helped me a lot. I tweak your suggestion (since I used 1 just to simplify the example). This is what I did

For each component I setup new UOM for what I needed.

Then in BOM I used that UOM for those components.

I used your logic for QTY (like 1 divide on what I need)

    Thanks again
