i am new to data migration concepts in ms crm
can any one give me some steps(or video) to how to approach and what are precautions we need to take care on data migration .

Hi,
It is not a concept as such. You need to review, plan & prepare your data migration strategy. There are few points/ things to consider-
1) You need to know your system i.e. source and target and the data structure of both the environment. Based on the data structure you need to work out the entity/field mapping.
2) Review the amount of data you need to Migrate and complexity of the data. is it just straight migration or do you have any business requirement for any specific data needs. For example, the source has a table/entity say Enquiries & prospects, which you want to migrate to single entity say lead. Another example to assess if you need all the data or just restricted, like do you really need to migrate those email?
3) Based on the above 2 points, you need to decide on the technical approach/ tools to be used for data migration. There are several for different business needs e.g. Out of Box excel import, using Data Migration Utility tool, tools available in Xrm Toolbox, Kingsway Soft SSIS packages, Scribe Data Migration etc.
4) Performing test runs with sample data to confirm your approach .
5) At last the data migration verification & validation. This includes counting the records from both the environment and working out if the migration is successful.
