Exceeded Maximum of Characters

i'm using CRM 2011, i faced an error "You Have exceeded the maximum number of 2000 characters in this field; it will be truncated", i already changed this field size to 8000 characters, and its saved .... but its still not working and giving the same message

    Are you trying to put more than 8000 characters into the field or is this message always being displayed even for a small number of characters?

    If you need a very large number of characters you should create a Multiple Lines Of Text field.

    Did you publish all customizations after you change the size?

    Yes. Please make sure you have published customizations. Also make sure in the System settings the 'Include HTC Component' is enabled. This option is under System Settings > Customization.

    I am using CRm 2011 UR15 and face the same problem.

    I changed the field to 4000 and published the change and still get the same error

    I found out what is the problem.

    If you are using either IE10 or IE11 in compatibility mode, the browser mode is IE10 compat view BUT the document mode defaulted to IE7 Standard.  With document mode set to IE7 standard , the browser will ignore the character limit setting and default to out of the box 2000 characters setting.

    Here is how we got there and how we "fix" this:

    bring up the page that has the problem. Pres F12, will bring up the debug mode.

    on the F12 debug page, you will see "Brower mode: <your brower mode>  Document Mode: IE7 standards".

    We switch Document Mode from IE7 standards to IE8, or Alt + 8, then we can save the text box with the correct character limit setting .

    This is a big problem, since this has nothing to do with the custom code and we can't change the CRM form,  we have to use F12 and then Alt +8 to enter the correct data.

      One of the main reason i think its with the Maximum length of  field or the user Environment, it looks you exceeded the  maximum length, make sure you change the length to appropriate, save and publish. In my past i come across this situation twice, one situation in workflow i got same error,  reason is field length. after i change the field length problem is fixed

                           In  second situation, client using windows XP and IE8, after certain length users  who are using windows XP and IE8 can't see the all text in multi lines of Text field but reaming users can see.
