Whats the difference between form notifications and control notifications?

im studying dynamics crm and came to an exercise saying "make a control notification",

so my question is what is control notification and how is it different than a form notification ? how to code it?

(would be awesome to direct me for sources to read, looked in client api but didnt find or that i do not know how to look for it..)

    its not exatly the same, form notifications are the ones that show at the upper portion of the form right under the ribbon
