NAV 2018 - Company rename fails - "The task cannot be run because the user account that is assigned to run the task has been altered"

Hello,

we upgraded from NAV2009 to NAV2018, System is running.

While trying to rename a company we receive at the end following error:

"The task cannot be run because the user account that is assigned to run the task has been altered. The Task has been canceled."

We tried doing his within the Client and by Powershell "Rename-NAvCompany".

We searched a lot unfortunately we did not find anything.

Regards

Ufuk

I have the same question (0)

Thanks for this thread!  Just to share that after I read through the posts over here.

I tried to set Job Queue Entries to be set by me instead of another administrator, I was able to change the name in "Companies".

    Thank you.

    Hi Gert,

i made my test under CU20 and CU24.

I remember my self talking to my college last year saying, we need to be aware of this... while i was reading a tech doc from Microsoft, regarding an CU. And if i recall correctly it was something about company rename.

On Friday and Thursday i searched through all CU's for NAv2018 but i did not found anything.

But i am 100% sure i read something about it, damn.

    Regards

    Ufuk

    Hi Ufuk

First af all I believe this setting was introduced in some CU of NAV2018 (but have not looked more into which one).

Second I think it is triggered by Job Queue Entries existing with another username than the one currently renaming the company.

So it might be that others simply have not hit that combination.

I believe this is a platform bug though - so we ought to investigate if this is also true in the latest NAV2018 CU and/or latest BC. If it is we should probably report it to Microsoft. I'll see if I can find time to do that before the New Year.

    Hi Gert,

    thanks for sharing.

Yesterday i also found that post on mibuso, but i was in the mind that this is only for BC365. Right after your posting i made the changes and was able to rename the company, thanks again.

What makes wonder is, that either everyone who has renamed a company under NAV2018 has that switch set to false already, or only a few people tried that.

The documentation regarding Company rename should reflect that ;-)

    Regards

    Ufuk

    Hi Ufuk,

I was just hit by and debugging that exact error on Friday and had prepared a blog post about it. I've just published it triggered by your question :-).

The solution is to set the Service Tier Setting "EnableUserConsistencyValidationOnTasks" to false while renaming (or permanent if that suits you requirements).

You can read more about the error at https://www.dabbler.dk/index.php/2019/12/22/the-task-cannot-be-run-because-the-user-account-that-is-assigned-to-run-the-task-has-been-altered/
