Hi all,
Why is it that kb articles always direct us to have all users log out of GP if there is a lock on a file in the SY00800 table? I always select all from the table, identify the offending row, as the user id, company name, batch source, batch number and transaction source is displayed, I can easily identify the row causing a user to receive an error such as;
Unable to save to the batch activity table. You will not be able to use this batch.
Delete the offending row and keep GP running, without disrupting all other users in the system.
Just curious. Steve

I have the same question (0)Hi Steve,
If you have experience and feel confident about what you are doing, thats great. The KB Articles keep in mind a broader audience, and the general idea with having all users log out of GP is so that you can make a backup. In case something goes wrong, you can restore the backup, and no user would have lost any work. Its just safer this way when you are making changes into a table in a live environment.
