Hey!
Updates have a couple important things to be aware of:
- Microsoft performs updates every weekend. These are Hotfixes/Security/performance related. You should see these announced on Admin.MIcrosoft.com under Health / Message center.
- For new features, you usually have the waves. They can be a minimum of 2 (April/October) to a maximum of 4 (adding 2 intermediate in February/July in addition to the previous). for the Waves, you can get them in 3 different approaches:
a) Early Access, if your environment is subscribed to the Early Access, you'll receive the features as soon as they're released for preview. You can take advantage of this to perform tests in advance.
b) General Availability. This means that the package is pretty much definitive and you can manually deploy to your environment. IN this scenario, you need to go to PowerPlatform Admin Center, select the environment and you should see an option to update to Wave X (1 or 2).
c) Mandatory deployment. Microsoft announces a calendar for deploying into different regions, usually 4-6 weeks after General Availability. This means that over a weekend, all environments in a particular region will be forced to update to that particular wave. After this, every new environment you create will already contain the latest version (including Wave functionality).
