Lead source field in the opportunity entity mapping

(0) ShareShare

Hello,

I am having trouble mapping lead source field from lead source to the opportunity entity. I created a new lead source field in the opportunity and set the data type same as the one in the lead source. Do I need to create a new 1:N relationship in lead source or opportunity entity? Also, am I supposed to copy the labels and values under options section? Please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

Why dont use existing lead-opportutnity relationship and create a new mapping field in the existing relationship

That's what I originally did and it isn't working. Do I need to copy the labels and values? or just set the same data type?

    Hi VLampone,

I guess my question here would be why do this?  You should be able to refer back to the lead at any time with the originatingleadid that is on the opportunity.

If you want to continue to do what you are doing there are a couple of options I would think of:

    1.  Do not use the current lead source and create a new global option set that contains similar values and then create a field on the lead and the opportunity for this and you can then setup as a mappable field from the lead to the opportunity in the 1-N relationship mapping fields.

    2.  You could setup a workflow on the creation of the Opportunity that will look at the lead's lead source fields and set a field's values on the opportunity appropriately.  This could map multiple values on the lead to a single mapping on the opportunity or any other logic you desire.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

Here is what it looks like in orginatinglead in the lead source entity and it is mapped to new_leadsource in the opp entity.

This is what Lead Source field looks like in the Opp entity but the options are blank. Am I supposed to copy the ones from Lead source?

    Hi Vlampone,

Are you not using a global optionset.  You will need to have a global optionset to do what you have above or you need to do through the workflow as I mentioned.

    Know what I mean?

    Thanks much,

Yes, the image in the 2nd link shows that the data type is set to Options Set. Isn't that global option set?

    Hi

There is already relation ship exists between lead and opportunity(N:1), to populate lead source on opportunity,

you need to create lead source field on opportunity , same type as lead (optionset) and you give optionset values same on both lead and opportunity, not label option sets uses values . And then go to mappings on relationship and create new mapping.

Sorry, no it is set to global optionset but the lead source already have custom values:

What I want is for the field in opp entity to display these values from lead source
