Adding Column to GP's SQL Table SOP10200

Hi GP Experts -

Is it advisable to add a column to SOP10200 that will support CRM <-> GP integration. The purpose of this column is to store CRM GUID. This column will not be visible to front end GP application. It will only support back end integration maps.

CRM order details does not have Line Item Sequence concept and every sales order line is a unique GUID all linked to a parent order. The order will start in CRM and flow over to GP and I want to store that GUID somewhere in GP so that I can use it to refer back to CRM order detail line when updating data from GP to CRM.

    It is never advisable to add a column to GP tables.  It can cause issues at upgrade time.  It would be better to find an unused field, or existing User-Defined field to store your data.  In fact, I doubt Microsoft would support it if you encounter issues as a result of modifying a table.

    I would suggest you create a new table that contains the key fields from SOP10200 - SOP Number, SOP Type, Line Number Sequence, Component Sequence and your GUID from CRM.  As previously stated, you should never modify an existing GP table.  This will cause problems with support and any future upgrades.
