Extract Data from Business Central

We have a wish to extract data from Business Central automatically.

We want to model the data to fit the data of another system using KNIME.

I have been looking at API, is this the recommended way to connect Business Central Data or is there a smarter way to get data into KNIME.
Note, that we do not have anyone to code, so we want to do it though configuration of the Business Central

Thank you for the inputs, we will try and see how it goes with the API setup :)

This depends on what data sources your other system can work with. Typically, APIs would be the best option, but as mentioned by Yun Zhu, the system may not have all the APIs you need. If that's the case, it won't work for you without access to a developer.

However, Microsoft does not provide standard APIs for all tables, and the standard APIs may not contain the fields you need, which all need to be customized.
The same is true when using Power Automate.

Hope this can give you some hints as well.
    Thanks.

You can also leverage the standard APIs provided by Business Central, which are available out of the box. These APIs cover most major master data tables as well as document tables.

    Hi,

To extract data from business central without any code, configuration packages is the best way.

You could create configuration packages in business central where you can include the tables that you need and also fields that are needed. This will export the data in excel files. Then you can transform the excel to load into KNIME, if it supports excel or csv files.

The key term is "Automatically".  You can export data through may ways in BC just not automatically as easy.  If you are doing an API you could try Power Automate also, but again you might need some development skills.  You could look at using a Job Que to export data.  This can be scheduled to run at a specific time and can be recurring.  You would need to create a job que to run a codeunit that would extract the data.
