What is the difference between the posted date and posting date in GP? If you had an invoice for work done in Jan of this year but are not processing the invoice until today, what would your posting and posted date be?

Your Document Date would be the invoice date.  Document Date is what drives aging of the invoice.  Posting Date is the date the transaction is posted to the General Ledger.  Posted Date is the date the transaction was posted in a specific module (i.e., AP, GL, AR, etc.)

    Catherine,

Frank is exactly right. You might find this blog post with additional details helpful: victoriayudin.com/.../whats-with-all-these-dates

Date of invoice could be Dec 27, 2012

Posting date could be Dec 30, 2012 to keep the expense in December

Date posted could be Jan 5, 2013 which might be the date which AP actually posted the invoice in the system.
