Issues when importing contacts with the same Full Names

Hi All

Really struggling with the below if anyone can assist that would be brilliant. I have searched for a good while on Google and nothing has really solved the situation. Currently using CRM 2015 On-premises.

So I am importing some training records into CRM specifically trainees.

I have a situation where I have "John Smith" and we have two "John Smith's" in the CRM Contacts section already so which one do we assign this too?

I understand we have to create a unique link, the unique link is the Account Name/Company Name/Parent Customer whatever you like to call it depending on which version of CRM you have. None of the account names are the same.

So:

John Smith - Account 1

John Smith - Account 2

Simple....

So I set the Trainee Lookup as per below:

Related Record Type: Contact > (Default is Full Name) So I suspect I also tick Company Name (Lookup). This way I have Full Name, Company Name ticked.

I get failures saying "A duplicate lookup reference was found" which leads me think its not working properly. To clarify the Account 1 in the above examples only exists once in CRM even in inactive so there are no duplicates.

Error code is 0x80040352 and more information is BLANK.

    Hello,

Try to use two or three combination like email from contact, or some other field which is unique.

Or another option is to export your contact record and can import your training record with contact's unique GUID record so that it can directly map with the GUID, this was the older way to import duplicate records so you can try that as well.

    Thanks

    Hi There

Do you have to have email field etc in your csv even though it wont be used I guess I would set it to ignore?

    Hi James,

I believe if i understand your example properly, you supposed to map to account name instead of company name.

check it out and revert me..

    Hi There

There is no Account name just "Account (Lookup)" and I have tried this also but it don't work.
