I am looking for a way to sort contacts by date last contacted so that my organization can identify who hasn't been reached out to in a while.  Is there a way to do this?

    Hi Lauren

Previously  sort on Contacts by Last Contacted date is usually done by using a Workflow that updates the last contacted date every time an activity such as email or phone call is completed against the contact.

However since CRM 2015 you can Create a new rollup field with datetime type on the contact entity. In the rollup field properties, select the activity such as Phone call as the related entity, and for aggregation, select Max and select the date field that you want to base your date on. you will now have a field on the contact that automatically rolls up the date of the last phone call. Repeat this process for any other types of activities such as emails, tasks Appointments etc that you wish to include in your last contacted date.

Thanks for the help!  I'm confused about the date field part though--can you explain a little more?

    Hi Lauren,

    1) Create a New Field

    2) Select Datatype > Data Time

    3) Field Type > Rollup

Then an Edit Button will display for you to define your Activity Rollup criteria

    Hello Raz,

    thank you for your explanation!

Does your rollup field updates its content automatically? Cause mine doesn't.

    What do I do wrong?

    Thank you for your help!

    Best Wishes, Michael
