Creating a new company

Hi,

I wish to know the implication of restoring a live company database to another live company database. (newly setup database)

The purpose of this is because all the settings and master records are the same. As there are no entries in the 1st live database, I will like to copy the existing settings and master to another live.

Can I use the same method of  putting the live company database in to the test company database method? Following KB872370 guide? Any implication?

Thanks.

Regards,

SuetLee

    Hi SuetLee,

If you go to customersource under the automated solutions under support you will see a utility that copies setup information from one company to another.

This will enable you to simply create the new company and then run the utility.

If you wish to use the restore of the backup of the other company search the knowledgebase for copy data and you will find a script that you will need to execute to change the company id in certain files for the new company.

    Hope this helps.

Just Backup your database and restore it on the other database.

Or Use copy Master data Article.

You have multiple options to acheive this:

    1. Use CopyCompany tool from Microsoft Automated Solutions, this tool gives you the ability to copy setups and Master data from one company to another, you can download this tool from Automated Solutions - Partner or Customer Source.

    2. Use Rapid Implementation tool, find below post:

    3. Use SQL Integration Services:
