Microsoft Dynamics 365 CVE-2018-8609 Remote Code Execution Vulnerability.
In reference to the critical vulnerability in Dynamics 365 version 8 announced here: https://www.symantec.com/security-center/vulnerabilities/writeup/105894

The update is posted on Microsoft site here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4467675

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Update 2.3

What about those who have version 8.1 and still Dynamics 2016? Do we have to upgrade to Dynamics 365 and version 8.2.3 to get this critical vulnerability fixed? Why did not Microsoft just publish a hotfix for all versions and not an upgrade?

Anyone know if there is a hotfix for this critical issue that can be installed on all Dynamics CRM versions without upgrading the Organization?

    Hi,

Since this is 8.2.3, and previously was 8.2.2, this is consider a small hotfix update.

This is the only way you get those updates. So, Plan a date with your user and proceed to update it.

A small vulnerability attack can be solved by taking care of SQL Browser server. Refer detailed in Blog.

If SQL browser service is turned ON, there is a possible risk. So it is always suggested to turn of SQL browser service and provide named instance with port number of SQL server.
