Successful Quick Campaign but no activity records to recipients

I used a Quick Campaign to send a follow-up email to some leads yesterday. None of the email activity shows up on the individual lead record. I think this is a big deal.  The following happened so I know it sent successfully:

  • I got a lot of bounce backs to my inbox (invalid emails, vacation responses).
  • CRM used my inbox because I watched the count of draft messages in Outlook as the emails all went out. (They aren’t showing up in my sent folder, but they were showing up in the drafts folder.)
  • The quick campaign has the email activities associated with it.
  • The quick campaign number of successes is complete.

The problem is the lead record indicates “no activities”.  If I go to any of the recipients (leads) that received the email I sent out, there are no activities listed.  

Is this expected?

If I send an individual email to a lead it shows up under activities.  I was assuming a quick campaign email would show up there as well.

    Can you open the individual emails under the Quick Campaign and take a look at them? It sounds to me like they are not being associated with the correct records. Most likely reason would be that you have more than one record with a matching email address (eg Lead and Contact). If the email addresses are shown with red question marks, this could be your explanation.

    I just checked.  I've resent a smaller quick campaign using some test leads that use test emails.  The emails were sent and received to the test email addresses.  I've checked all leads and contacts using one of the test email addresses and the activity is not there.  There are no email addresses with red question marks.  2 leads with 2 emails in the test quick campaign.  Same results as before - the quick campaign shows the activities but the leads do not show the individual email activity.

    I actually had the same issue and came here looking for an answer. If you find out anything, I'd be interested. It's frustrating because if you go to the company, it shows up on the company activity, and it'll show up three times if you have three contacts associated with that company, but won't show up on the individual contact.
