Deliver remainder policy when RMA line cannot be split

I would like to have an explanation on this AR parameter: Deliver remainder policy when RMA line cannot be split.

Helptext says:

The policy ‘Deliver remainder policy when RMA line cannot be split’ controls the behavior for RMA line registration when the decimal precision for the sales or catch weight unit of measure does not allow the RMA line to be split.Splitting is required in partial registration scenarios; however, splitting cannot be done due to decimal precision setup when the resulting split quantity in sales or catch weight unit of measure will be 0 (zero). Select the parameter value ‘Delete remainder when RMA line cannot be split’ to allow for partial quantity registration in scenarios where it is not possible to split the RMA line due to decimal precision setup. When ‘Delete remainder when RMA line cannot be split’ is selected and a partial registration is done then no subsequent registrations will be possible in scenarios where the RMA line cannot be split due to decimal precision. The otherwise remaining quantity will be automatically deleted. Select the parameter value ‘Enforce validate full quantity registration when RMA line cannot be split’ to enforce that the full RMA line quantity must be registered in scenarios where it is not possible to split the RMA line due to decimal precision setup. The entire quantity must be registered.

I cannot fully understand this explanation, especially the part /splitting cannot be done due to decimal precision setup when the resulting split quantity in sales or catch weight unit of measure will be 0 (zero)/.

    Hi,
The help text is very detailed. First of all, this parameter appears to allow the enterprise to control the behavior of delivering the remaining part of the return order line when it needs to be split but cannot perform the split.
If the split quantity is calculated by the system as zero (0), and the system's decimal precision setting or actual weight measurement unit (kg etc) does not allow splitting of zero quantity, in other words, the precision setting limits the splitting of the quantity, which will result in the inability to split the RMA line into smaller parts. Then the "Unable to split RMA line" situation will occur. At this point, this parameter comes in handy. When a return material authorizations (RMA) line cannot be split, this parameter controls whether the system deletes the remainder of the delivery or forces verification of the full quantity registration.
    Best Regards,
    Hana

    Hi,
This feature lets you choose what will happen when a sales return order line can't be split due to decimal precision on sales or the catch-weight unit of measure. It adds a setting called Deliver remainder policy when RMA line cannot be split to the Accounts receivable parameters page. When a return material authorizations (RMA) line can't be split, this setting controls whether the system will delete the deliver remainder or enforce validate full quantity registration.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

Hi both, can you please provide a numerical example? For example, customer returns 10.57kg, decimal precision is 2 etc.? I understand this is what this parameter is about.
Otherwise I just see more or less copy pasted and reworded text from the help text in your replies.
How can "split quantity is calculated by the system as zero (0)" - what does this mean?
