adding Product variants for Constraint based configuration

Hi

I m using Constraint based configuration for creating variants from product attributes.  so far the only way that I can create new variants is use the Product configuration on a sales order or Purchase order and then select the attributes from Product and Supply then the system creates the new variant if this attribute combination havent been used before.

my question is how can create all the variants that I need without using them in SO or PO first ? I want to create them like using Dimension based configuration where you  can create all the variants that you want to use

I need to pre-create them to be able to add all my trade agreements and rebate agreements ahead of using them on SO and PO

 Thanks

Ola

    Hi,

Product configurator creates a new variant from SO/PO line if item is having only 'Configuration' as Product dimension active. You can use existing created variant which was initially created by selecting this option on Product configurator model.

I don't think you can create the all pre-defined variant in case of Constraint based dimension technology. The purpose of a product configurator is to provide users with functionality that will enable them to create a generic, reusable model structure which can have multiple user-defined variations.

where as The benefit of using dimension-based product configuration is that you can avoid creating multiple bills of materials for one product. Only one bill of materials can be created, and configuration rules can be defined to select or deselect particular products in the bill of materials and based on this selection a configuration can be created for the product.
