upgrade an existing SQL table using Dexterity

Hi,

I have created a small add-in for GP using dex with a few tables.  Recently, I made some changes to this add-in, as well as added a new column to one of the table definitions.

When i install the new .cnk file i get a sql error stating that the table definition doesn't match. I know why I am getting this error (the new column) but i don't know  how to upgrade the table definition via code rather than drop and recreate the table.  I looked at an example of a table conversion on Customer Source but that seems really extensive for just adding a column to a table.  Can anyone point me in the right direction here to a blog post or other form of example?

Thanks,

Aaron

I believe you are going to have to transfer your data into a temp table, recreate the old table according to the new table definition and then import your data back in to the newly remodeled table. Adding a column to the table changes the record length.

There are dexterity sample applications available for it at patnersource. You can download them from here

Thank you for your replies Leslie and Rubal,

Unfortunately, I do not have access to Partner Source as I am a customer.  Leslie, do you happen to know where I can find some examples of what you are referring to?  I understand the concept you are outlining, but I am still learning Dexterity and I want a little help to get started.  Is the table conversion example on Customer Source the only example I have to go on here?

    Thanks,

    Aaron
