Batch Resolve multiple Cases (Incidents)

If I have say 1000 Cases (incidents) which need to be marked as Resolved (StateCode) I believe there are several ways of doing this.

  1. Manually
  2. Via a Process

If I create an On Demand process to do this, I believe I can multiple select all the Cases that need to be updated to Resolved and run the Process against them all.

But what would then happen if one or more of these Cases had Open Activities?

    if you have any case with open activity on case,  workflow will fail waiting state.

    THere is a Bulk workflow tool in XRM toolbox that will help you to run ondemand workflow based on view or fetchxml queury rather running workflow manually on each page.

    You can download the bulk workflow run tool from below url

    Hi Maz,

    First of all, go to advance find and search on activities with 'Regarding cases' and the created on date; so, that you can filter/know

    Click on result and Bulk complete them all

    Now run your on-demand process on case (you can set max. limit of record in a grid to 250 from personal options and thereby you would need to run the process 4 times, since you said you have 1000 cases to be resolved)

    For CRM 2011, others are correct in that you must close any open activities before resolving the case. However, in CRM 2013 Spring 14 Wave Update (SP1 I presume), it appears MS has enhanced the feature to auto-close (cancel) any open activities when resolving a case. I've since written a handful of workflows (1 for each status I want to apply to a set of Cases to resolve) that I can run on-demand.
