Business Central On-Prem: Restored Database Shows No Data in UI (Data Visible in SQL)

Hello everyone,

I’m facing an issue after restoring a production database to a development environment in Business Central (On-Premise) and I’d appreciate your guidance.

Environment:

  • Business Central On-Premise

  • Single-tenant setup

  • SQL Server with restored production database

Scenario:
I restored a production database backup into SQL Server as a new database (Dev) and configured a new Business Central Server Instance pointing to it.

Current Behavior:
Business Central opens successfully, navigation and pages work, and companies are visible. However, no data is displayed in any pages (Customer, Vendor, etc.), even though data clearly exists in SQL tables.

Key Difference:
Production uses a domain service account, while development uses NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE.

What I Checked:
Verified SQL data exists, no orphaned users, service account has db_owner access with correct default database, Business Central is pointing to the correct database, schema sync completed, and service restarted.

Issue:
Business Central connects and UI loads normally, but no business data is displayed.

Questions:

  1. Are there additional SQL or service account considerations when switching from a domain account to Network Service?

  2. Could this be related to company context or data visibility?

  3. Is any additional step required after restoring a production database in single-tenant setup?

  4. Any known scenarios where UI loads but data is not retrieved?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This appears to be associated with the wrong database.
If you delete this database, will BC still open normally?
Alternatively, try restoring Cronus and see if BC can read it normally. If it can, then the problem is still with the database.

    Thanks.
