Config. error Contacts

Hi! I have a problem with congfiguring contacts, table 5050. When I try to apply my changes I got the error message on each line "You cannot change the Number manually..."
I have not tried just to export Number and Name, and Import again without changes. I still got the same message. 
Anyone have a clue why this is?

    Hi,

    You need to enable manual no series for Contacts.

    Open Marketing setup and check the Contact Nos. Open the selected No series and check the Manual Nos.

    But does this not make duplicates of the contacts? I just want to update the  existing contacts.

    If the No. from your excel exist in the system it will update it but if it doesnt exist it will create a new record.
