Your choice and experience with integration tools?

Hi there folks,

Our company often integrates data to and from CRM and ERP systems. We use a third party tool called Scribe. But I am a bit curious, what other partners, consultants, companies uses as integration between CRM and other systems. Maybe even add your personal experience with the tools you use.

Besides Scribe, we know that their are:

  • NAV, standard connector
  • Kingsway Soft
  • Own developed integration tools

Let me know your thoughts, experience :)

    Hi,

first I think it's important to know exactly the source or target involved, if your source or target involves Dynamics NAV (you pointed out the standard NAV connector) or not.

If doesn't involves NAV, depending on the size of the integration and if your company has some code that can be re-used (for example you need to create 1k records reading from a sql db once a day to CRM or the other way round) your own tool can be also a good choice, if the integration is more complex (multiple entities, high amount of records to upsert, etc etc) with KingswaySoft CRM toolkit you can create a very robust solution.

if it involves NAV, I did a couple of integration so I don't have too much experience, but try to avoid to build your own tool, depending also on your NAV version, if you create your app from scratch you need to generate the classes from the NAV webservice, refresh them if something change, etc etc. You should check as first thing the KingswaySoft NAV toolkit, personally I didn't use it but the behavior and capabilities should be the same as their CRM toolkit (in the end we are talking about CRUD operations, nothing fancy)

with KingswaySoft there is a cost involved of course, but the alternative to develop in-house depends ifyou have a couple of developers, their experience, the code you already have, and the complexity, you can end up with a couple of months easily if something goes wrong.

    hope it helps

    Hi,

I've not done too much integration from ERP to CRM but done numerous migrations/integrations from legacy systems to Dynamics CRM and would have no issue in recommending the Kingsway Soft SSIS connectors, mainly for these reasons:

    1. Cost is very reasonable and they have numerous license options including free developer license.

    2.  Support is very responsive

    3.  Stays within the Microsoft stack

    Hope that helps

Hi Thue, just wanted to quickly step in to say we'd be happy to provide you a demo of our CRM/NAV solutions while you conduct your evaluation of your various integration methods. We have several clients who use both toolkit for their integration. You can send us an email at any time if you would like to set this up or have any questions.

Sounds like you have used Kingsway before. Have any used other integration tools? Like Scribe, Mulesoft, Jitterbit?

I am mainly interested in your experience in general.

Regarding the responses on Kingways, its always nice to know what you thought are on what is good. Have you had any bad experience as well? Limitations?

For us it is a big step, when and if we choose a new third party supplier, so we often do a thorough analyse before committing us to new supplier. How do you guys handle this?

    Thanks for the response people.

    Kingsway:

Currently we running into a summer holiday, and won't have time for a demo. But some time after the summer holiday we will be interested in both a hands-on session as well as a demonstration.

    Hi,

I also use Scribe to develop my CRM interface.

I use it to connect to Oracle and SQL databases as well as to import files.

I am doing delta calculations before doing the update/insert or delete steps, to only update the necessary data and to improve the Performance.

I also try to join all necessary data already into the source query, to prevent running into to many lookups, a.s.o.

From my point of view, Scribe is nice, because you can create an interface even if you do not have in depth Software development skills.

But for larger implementations it might run into performance issues, if not properly setup. In that case SSIS Integration might be the better/faster one.

    Hi Thue,

I've not had any bad experiences with Kingsway.

I've not come across any limitations as you have pretty much any connector, OLD DB, CSV, TEXT natively in SSIS.  Kingsway simply give you that connector to CRM/Salesforce/Dropbox without having to write any code.

For us (a consultancy ), choosing a 3rd party supplier for a customer is about choosing the right product to fit into their current IT infrastructure at the right price.

I have also done numerous integrations with Kingswaysoft and Scribe. Both are great ETL tools, and I prefer Kingswaysoft slightly, as I've found that the Scribe Insights tool (their on premise version) has a bit of a learning curve to use properly. Scribe Online has a different (and easier) interface, so no problems there.

    Hi,

Well said. You are reading my mind. I usually use Scribe and it hasn't let me down.

Kingwaysoft does the job as well and it is cheaper than Scribe.

Usually decision between Scribe and Kingswaysoft depends of requirements and obviously project' budget.

    Best wishes
