Trying to add serial number to existing inventory item

I have an item that has ITMTRKOP set as 2 so serial numbers can be entered.  However there is one item in inventory without a serial number.  When I try to go into Serials and enter one I cannot, nor can I do an item transfer entry to add a serial number.

How can I add the serial number, either through the GUI or using SQL?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott Emick

    Hi Scott,

I know this is probably not the answer you're looking for... but if you run an Inventory reconcile, GP should add the missing Serial Number, though it will be auto-generated I think.

Thanks these are serial numbers on cisco switches received from the manufacturer and I don't really want to run check links for 1 serial to add.

    Hi Scott,

Beat Bucher is asking you to run Reconcile (Tools - Utilities - Inventory - Reconcile).

You can specify a range by item number, so this process shouldn't take long.

And, as Mr. Bucher correctly points out, this will create an auto generated serial number.

After it's created, then you can do an inventory decrease adjustment to get the auto-generated serial number out of inventory.  Then do an increase adjustment where you'll specify the correct serial number.

    Thanks,

    Justin
