Hello all,
I would like to create a new activity type.
Is it possible?
If yes how and where do I link my new entity activity type.
Thank you in advance

Hi, Martin.
This is impossible... But you can try to reuse one of non-used activities.
Just checking if this is possible now in the latest version of Dynamics, since this topic is almost 2 years old
Yes indeed! This has been possible since Dynamics CRM 2011 -www.powerobjects.com/.../crm-2011-custom-activity-types

Thank You !
Though this is a little old post - I am curious to know if there is an overhead on the performance and database because of using custom activitie that create additional pointer records in a couple more tables.
What are the key factors to consider whether to go with custom activity or custom entity & customize?
best wishes,
harihar
Hi Harihar,
As you know activity type entities are special entities and provide special functionality that is not available on other entities, you can't built them as well in supported way for example party list attribute like to, from, cc, outlook tracking, automatic roll-up etc, these fields can't be created. so if you have some requirement where you need these type of attribute you can only option to setup activity type entity. it may be that you will be able to implement a workaround some how but that require lot's of customization and development effort.
Thanks
HIMBAP,
Thank you for the response. I am curious to know the list of other attributes created by default and used in the activity type entities.
If we don't need these attributes, then we can go with custom entity and build the relationship with key main entities.
