Hi community experts,

I learned about data backup recently. I would like to know more about it.

My question is, is it possible to backup the data in dynamics 365 Online?

If i backup the data from dynamics 365 online where it will be stored and how i can recover that?

Best Regards,

Sumaira Noor

    Hi Sumaira Noor,

My option is the same with Ravi. Since D365 has used new PowerPlateform Admin Center. So I update the latest D365 System backups& Manual backups operations as following:

Docs: Go to Power Platform Admin center > Environments > [select an environment] > Backups > Create

    System Backups:[View:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/backup-restore-environments:750:50]

    Manual Backups: [View:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/backup-restore-environments#manual-backups:750:50]

(Note: Manual backups do not count against your storage limits)

You could recover it by Environments > [select an environment] > Backups > Restore or manage(Note: Only for Sandbox Environement. You need to transfor to Sandbox if it's Prod Environemnt.)

    [View:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/backup-restore-environments#restore-a-manual-backup:750:50]

    Regards

    Johnny

Thanks for the response Johnny and Ravi.

I learned Azure SQL Database takes backups continuously , since i dont have knowledge on Azure SQL Database and as much I know it is based on cloud, I would like to know that, as I'm using my D365 online, will the data be stored on Azure Sql ?

If it is onpremise where it will be stored?

    Best Regards,

    Sumaira Noor

    Hi Sumaira,

For onpremise, you need to provide the sql server furing the installation which is again your internal servers. For CRM online, the database is on azure but you can't access it. And the way to take back up is as mentioned above in the link.

You can use some other process to sync data to replicate your organization data to your own azure sql but then it would be replication not a db backup / restore.

    Hope this helps.
