Why aren't "Posts" displayed in the Timeline anymore?

Posts used to be displayed in the Contact Timeline control but they are no longer being displayed there.

Using the Advance Find I can see that the Posts exist and that they are "Regarding" the correct Contact record, but they are not displayed on that Contacts timeline.  So, I checked the Timeline control's properties to make sure that "Posts" are enabled for the "Record Types to show" (using the new PowerApps editor) and the "Filter By" "Show these modules" property (using the classics form editor) - and "Posts" are no longer an option in either editor.

How do I get Posts to display on the Timeline again?

Is there a global option somewhere that could have been turned off?

    Hi Ron,

In this thread, I have multiple replies, you can mark any one of them.

And It doesn't matter if you can't also mark other anwser.

    Don't let this bother you.

    Leah,

I was looking for a way to mark your reply as the verified answer and I accidently clicked the "Mark as abusive" action on your reply.  Sorry about that.  I can't find a way to undo that action.  Please let me know if you know of a way to delete that action or notify the Mods that I clicked it in error.

Uggh!!!  It turns out that the problem was just a browser caching issue.  I had Hard-Refreshed (CTRL + F5) the browser so many times and was assuming that would clear the cache.  But it didn't.

I tried a different browser (Edge rather than Chrome) and all the Post records displayed in the Timeline.  Then I tried Chrome in incognito mode and they displayed there as well.

I should have check that before posting here. Thank you for all of the replies and the reminder that if all else fails... try a different browser or Privacy/Incognito mode to be sure that the issue is not being caused by caching.

    Hi Ron,

Maybe you can try to change another browser or clear cache or use Privacy mode to test again.

    Hi Leah,

Thanks again for the reply.  I already did activate the New Contact rule.

...then created a new Contact, but the Posts still don't display in the Timeline (even though they are being created and can be seen using Advanced Find.

    Hi Ron,

You need also go Settings > Activity Feeds Rules to active contact post rule.

And the post can’t appear for original existing contacts, it will appear in the new contacts after you active the post configuration.

RE: Why aren't "Posts" displayed in the Timeline anymore?

I'm getting closer.... I found this old discussion thread that mentioned "clicking "REFRESH" button on the activity feed configuration (Post configuration) page is mandatory so that it can re-scan the entity metadata and load the new entities in the list."  So I tried it and all of the Post configuration records are now displaying. Yay!  so I've Activated posts for the Contact entity.

And then enabled Posts for the Contact Timeline.

...but the Posts still aren't displaying on the Timeline. Any additional advice?

Sorry.  I should have mentioned this in my last reply.  There are no inactive post configuration records either.  It seems like some global setting got turned off somehow and all of these records were deleted.  Is there a way to get them back?

Dynamics is still automatically creating a Post record when a new Contact record is created.  I can see it using "Advanced Find" for the Post entity.  It just doesn't display on the timeline (Activity Feed) for the contact anymore.  Also, my custom Work Flow is still working and creating a manual Post record as you can also see in the Advanced Find page. But it doesn't display in the Timeline anymore either.

    Hi Ron

You can expand ‘Post Configurations’ and click ‘Inactive post configurations’.

Then find contact to do operations that I mentioned before.

    Leah,

Thanks for the reply.  I really appreciate it.  However, when I go to Settings > Activity Feeds Configuration Area, I don't see any records and there doesn't see to be any way to add Post Configuration records.

I should mention that I'm running Dynamics 365 Online 2020 release wave 2 enabled Server version: 9.1.0000.25249.  Any additional advice would be appreciated.
