Hi Team,

We do have requirement where we need to restrict users from downloading notes attachments. Notes are accessible from both social pane and direct from notes form.

Appreciate if you could provide any inputs.

Regards,

Vinayak Chavan

can you try to remove read previlige on the annotation entity for  just one security role so that you can test if it works? And make sure that the user you are testing with has only that one security role. if it does apply the modification on all security roles.

If we remove read permission then user wont be able to see notes with just text as well. Please correct my understanding.

We just need to disable or restrict attachment download from notes.

There is no specific privilege to download notes. I think you only option would be to write a plugin to run on the Retrieve message of the annotation (note) entity. The plugin would need to check if the request includes the documentbody field (as this contains the file contents), and either throw an Exception to the user, or set the field to null.

Thanks a lot David for your reply!

I tried with retrieve plugin on annotation entity. Retrieve plugin for annotation provides entity reference and not the entity. As a result there is just GUID as part of target entity (entity reference) and no other attributes. Am I doing anything wrong here?

Hi. Did you try playing around the user's security role for Note and Post entities under the Core Records tab? You can remove Edit and/or Read to prevent them from downloading the attachment.
