SmartList Builder Table Security

I'm setting up SmartList Builder permissions as we plan to allow some users to create their own SmartLists.

Is there a way to restrict what company tables they will be able to add when using SLB?

For example, we want them to have access to all HR & Payroll tables, but no Financial tables.  Later, we might want a second group of users to have access to Financial tables, but not HR & Payroll.

Security to Smartlist objects are completely different then security to GP. If you don't want a user to have access to specific data then don't allow the user to have access to a Smartlist that has that specific type of data.

Hi Jonathan, thank you for your reply!  We were more looking for information about SmartList Builder security.  We would like our HR users to be able to use SmartList Builder, but not to be able to access financial tables while in Builder.  So if they were in Smart List Builder > Add Table > Microsoft Dynamics GP Table they wouldn't be able to pick Microsoft Dynamics GP > Financial tables.  Is that possible to restrict with security?

This can only be done one way. When a user creates a Smartlist in Smartlist Builder they do not have access to it by default. A user that has the ability to change security needs to grant the user access to the new Smartlist. So even in the user creates a Smartlist for information you do not want the user to see they cannot unless they have the ability to grant access to the Smartlist via GP security.

There is no way to limit the table that can be selected in Smartlist Builder.

Now I understand what you were trying to say.  Thank you for taking the time to explain!
