Picking on D365 Warehouse only mode

I am currently completing some analysis on D365 warehouse only mode and have a question around specific picking process capability,

  1. On D365 WOM does the functionality exist with config to pick ratio cartons or nested cartons by LPN from an LPN controlled pick face?
  2. On D365 WOM does the functionality exist to to pick bundles of products together to make up one saleable unit I.e kit
I have the same question (0)

    1. Nested/Ratio Cartons by LPN:
Yes—D365 Warehouse Only Mode supports LPN-controlled pick faces with nested cartons. You can configure container hierarchies and work templates to pick cartons (and even set up ratio-based picking), although very specific ratio requirements might require minor customizations.

    2. Kit (Bundle) Picking:
Yes—D365 WOM supports kit assembly. By defining a kit (using a BOM or kit structure), the system can generate picking work to consolidate components into one saleable unit.

This means both capabilities are available with proper configuration, and any additional custom logic can be applied if your process has more unique requirements.

Good morning, afternoon, or evening - depending on your location :)
    Hope you are well today!

In Dynamics 365 Warehouse Only Mode (WOM), here’s specific picking capabilities:
Picking Ratio Cartons or Nested Cartons by LPN
    • Dynamics 365 WOM supports license plate number (LPN)-controlled picking processes. However, the ability to pick ratio cartons or nested cartons by LPN from an LPN-controlled pick face depends on the configuration and setup of your warehouse management processes.
    • Nested license plate picking is a feature that allows you to group multiple child LPNs under a parent LPN for efficient picking. This functionality can be configured to streamline operations, but it may require additional setup or customization depending on your specific requirements.
Picking Bundles of Products to Create Saleable Units (Kits)
    • Dynamics 365 WOM includes functionality for product bundles, which allows you to group multiple items into a single saleable unit. This is particularly useful for creating kits.
    • The product bundle feature enables you to define parent items and component items, ensuring that the correct items are picked together to form a kit. This functionality can be configured in the system to meet your needs.

    Hope this helps :)

    Hi @Holly Huffman & @CU30091003-0 thanks for your responses to my questions. could I please ask you for further clarification by way of specific examples;

    • Nested picks- Example suitcases with 5 suitcases inside one carton each with a unique product barcode all receipted to one LPN using multi-item receipt. ERP sends an allocation for 2 of the 5 based on sales. Is D365 WOM smart enough to say this needs picked as a full set (LPN)? So in this example its not 5 child LPNs linked to a parent but 5 different products linked to one LPN.
    • Kitting/Bundles- Example patio set, on the ERP system it has one product code but is made up of 6 components, 4 chairs, 1 table and 1 parasol. The individual components are not barcoded. Would the best solution to have master (Parent Sku) held in the ERP and sent to the WMS with price data and component (child Sku's) held on the WMS linked to the master? hope that makes sense.
