What should be included in smoke testing?

Hi,

We have two new Dynamics PRE PROD environments set up and will proceed with smoke tests and Go-Live next year.

For Dynamics F&O our organization uses Finance, Commerce and Supply Chain Modules.

For Dynamics CE our organization uses the Sales Hub and Customer Service Hub.

I was wondering whether there were any documentations or guidance on which tests should be performed during smoke testing.

    Hi Matt,

    In modern software a "smoke test" is generally used to refer to a type of testing that isn't as rigorous as complete "System Testing" or "Acceptance Testing", it's ensuring that core functionality works when light testing is performed. 

    Try to test all features provided by the product according to the business requirements you have set and check if there are any problems.

    Smoke test mentioned in D365 Implementation Methodology - www.d365implementationguide.com/.../

    In short, this is a high-level testing approach of the most common business processes in the system. They are not indicative in terms of the system overall stability or bug-free guarantee. They should not be considered as the main argument to make a go\no-go decision for the go live.
