Import Organization

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

After numerous failed attempts to import Organization on my development server from a production backup; I restored the original MSCRM_CONFIG from development backup and trying to import an organization.

But, the issue is that I am not seeing any Org listed under "Organizzation database" drop down list.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi MSQ, You should have restored the Organisation CRM database , not MSCRM_Config, this is created on install of CRM so it wont appear on that list. Only Organisation Databases can be imported.

    Hi MSQ,

Here's the steps you need to take, let me know where you're having issues. I'm doing this from memory so some of the steps may not be worded 100% correct :

    1) In deployment manager, deactivate and delete the org you want to replace

    2) In SQL, import the database from production. You need to name the database {something}_MSCRM

    3) Go back to deployment managed and run import

    4) You'll see the database in the list

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

You need to take a backup of the {...}_MSCRM database from production and use that.

Thanks; this is exactly what I was told by Jason and I restored the MSCRM_CONFIG to its original state.

You need to delete the org through the deployment manager if you want to replace it.

Yes, I have and tried again but getting the same message I was getting yesterday:

"You must map your Active Directory user account to at least one enabled MS Dynamics CRM user who has the System Administrator security role"

Is that when you're trying to delete the org? Have you verified your Windows user is a Sys Admin in CRM?

My windows account is listed under "Deployment Administrators"

Do I need to check somewhere else?

Now I am getting the exact same error I was getting yesterday:

    1.  The current user does not have required permissions (read/write) for the following Active Directory group: CN=RptGroup {8d2cc321-d3ae-4b6b-9b29-05921790bf88},OU=CRM,OU=Security Lists,DC=MyDomain,DC=LOCAL

    2.  You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on the specified organization database

    3. Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server mysqlserver/ReportServer. Error: Error occurred while finding an item on the report server.

    MSQ,

For the symmetric key issue, since it's a dev environment you can clean them out (via social.msdn.microsoft.com/.../the-report-server-cannot-decrypt-the-symmetric-key-used-to-access-sensitive-or-encrypted-data-in-a)

1 - Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager

2 - Connect to your RS server

3 - Select 'Encryption Keys' from the left pane

4 - Press the 'Delete' button to get rid of your encrypted content

    Thanks,

     Aiden
