Unable to add user / already exists

Hello,

I have an issue from a client  I am supporting in regards to adding a new user to CRM 2011. When they try to add a user to a second org they receive the following messages.

“Error: This user was added, but a security role could not be assigned: Firstname Lastname (Domain\username). Open the user record and assign a security role.”

“Warning: The following user exists and was not added: Firstname Lastname (Domain\username).”

The user in question is able to log in to the other org without issue.  However, the user does not display in any form (disabled or enabled) within the second org. Has anyone come across this issue before? I had seem some posts that might be related pertaining to ‘AutoGroupManagementOff’ settings. However, I haven’t been able to find an example of my issue where the user is not displaying despite messaging it does exist.

Thank you.

It is quite possible that AD attributes of this user is mapped to another user in CRM. You can add this user with "AutoGroupManagementOff" settings but, I would  suggest to perform an Advance find on the users and see if there is any user with no security role assigned. If still you don't see any user, please capture Server trace and review the same.

    Thanks,

Thank you for the response. Although we were not able to determine what the client actually did to create the issue, the steps found on this link seem to have rectified the situation

    blogs.msdn.com/.../authentication-when-you-are-adding-a-new-user-to-crm-or-a-user-to-a-new-organization-in-crm.aspx

In essance we were able to verify the userid and then remove it from the tables mentioned in the articles. That allowed us to re-add the users

I have read the article. I would suggest to open a ticket with MS Support to fix this permanently. There are more tables where CRM User's information exists. Manually Editing these tables will make your environment Un-supported.

There are lot more similar cases which were handled by MS Support and fixed it,

This way you will fix this permanently and will have supported environment.

    Thanks,

    Nadeem
