Sending an email from/to contacts

Today I was posed with a requirement, that we can not accomplish with Click Dimensions (we have CD).  We want to send an email to our info@ inbox AND a confirmation email to the Customer (Contact record), it can be the same email or two separate.  The catch is that we HAVE to be able to click 1 button in Outlook that will reply ONLY to the Contact's email address.  So, we send the email(s) to/from info@ and the Contact, hit Reply (or any other outlook button) and it ONLY replies to John.Doe@gmail.com.

More Details:

We have a web form - 'Contact Us', that creates a record in CRM that is tied to a Contact (so I can grab the Contacts email address) and use a create process to kick off a workflow (I'd build a plugin if I have to) that sends the email.  We are not worried about being labeled a spammer since its less than 100 emails a day like this.

I've tried this briefly where the From is DoNotReply@, the To is John.Doe@, and the CC is Info@, but when I get the email I have to Reply All to get John.Doe@ included and cannot Send from John.Doe@ within CRM (unless someone knows something I do not).

Thank you.

What about if you BCC Info@ instead of CC it?  Then you could use Reply All to essentially do what you want.

    Hello Mike,

If I understand correctly, your emails are FROM a user 'info@' and TO is a contact?

You can do this with 'Reply to Email Address' in ClickDimensions 'Email Send':

    • To always to reply to John, simply pop John's email in Reply to Email Address
    • To reply to Recipient with type Contact, you will need to use freemarker, try this
      ${Recipient.contact.emailaddress1[0]!""}

    Read here more about freemarker:

    Thanks!

Hi Mike, I was thinking this on my way back home. ClickDimensions Email Send can't have cc or bcc, reply to recipient(contact) using freemarker does not work for you.

If you Have to go the 1 click solution:

    1. As Wayne suggested, bcc info@ and send from DoNotReply@ from CRM. Thus Reply All is only to contact and DoNotReply@.

    2. Create 2 ClickDimensions Email Send, one to contact and the other one to info@. On the second Email Send to info@, populate contact's email address as reply to email address before send.

However, doing this, you create more records and the email content might be slightly different depending on email template.

That's all I can think of now. Hope it helps!
