Grid to Excell Error

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 962

I have one workstation that has problems with the "Grid to Excel" functionality in Quick Query AND SL Screens.  Since the grid to excel functionality was working fine up until a few weeks ago, I suspect a Office Service Pack or a Windows update caused the issue.  However, I have been unable to identify the source.  I tried uninstall/reinstall of SL, uninstall/reinstall of Office without success.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

 Details:

 Windows 7-32 bit
Office 2010 Pro Plus
SL 8.00.20320.00

 Thank you!

Steve

    Hello Steve,

I was able to locate a hotfix for the error you are seeing.

To obtain this hotfix, If you golog  into Customer Source then go to Downloads and Updates --> Hotfixes. Locate the list of hotfixes available for SL 2011 and download the hotfix pertaining to bug 23280.  The knowledge base article ID is 2552261.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Hello Steve,

I was wondering if you were still experiencing the issue.

If there's anything further I can help you with, please let me know.

I did find a resolution to this issue. Simply rename the XLStart folder in the users profile to XLStart.old

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\XLStart

Restart Excel and then close Excel.  Quick Query will now export to excel without error.

    Angel,

Have you tried an uninstall and renistall of SL/Office? If not, please do so in the following order:

    - Uninstall Office, reboot

    - Uninstall SL client, reboot

    - Reinstall office, reboot

    - Apply an MS Office updates, reboot

    - Install SL Client

You will also want to be sure that the version of Office installed is compatible with the version of SL that is installed. Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 requires Microsoft Office 2010.

    Thanks Rachel,

We completed the process that you mention in the last post, but the functionality still not working. Any other ideas?

    Regards,

The version of Microsoft office is 'office professional plus 2010' v14.0.6129.5000 (32 bits)

Make sure that excel has all the add-ins turned off/inactive.  I have found a number of add-ins that cuase this error to occur and were fixed by simply disabling the add-in.  The one that comes to mind is the Avery label add-in.

    Hi everyone,

We still have this problem. We have Windows 7 on 64 bits and Office 2010 on 32 bits. Would that be the problem?

    Thanks in adavace,

    Angel

I had this problem with a user who got a new laptop (Windows 7 / Office 2013). It turned out the root cause was the Avery COM Add-in (NOT an Excel Add-in). From the screen shot above, one has to choose the "Com Add-ins" from the drop down at the bottom center of the screen and then "Go" to get a different window to manage the COM Add-ins.

I suspect this shipped with the laptop as I was not aware that the user had any unusual software installed.

    Regards,

    Stuart

No Sure if it will help others, but we recently had this issue where Grid to Excel was not functioning.  The issue was 64-bit Office.  We uninstalled that Office and reinstalled 32-bit Office and the Grid to Excel functionality works again.  Our Windows is 32-bit.
