On the original server you'd also want to run the Capture Logins script and save the output to restore onto the new server once complete.

If the server name or SQL instance name are different the passwords of all users will need to be changed as these are encrypted in the password.

A macro could be recorded in GP, and duplicated for each user using mail merge, to change all users passwords en masse if needed.

As Sandip Jadhav has stated, it depends.  However, I always prefer to have something to fall back if all else fail, i.e. keep the Windows 2003 intact.  The following are my suggestion based on what I just did few months ago.

    1.  Backup DYNAMICS and <your company> databases from Windows 2003.

    2.  Have the the KB provided by Sandip's post above ready.

    1.  On new server (computer), install Windows 2008 Server OS and apply all SP.

    2.  Install SQL Server 2008 R2 64-bit.

    3.  Restore DYNAMICS and <your company database> to the Windows 2008 Server.

    5.  Install GP 10 on Windows 2008 Server and bring it up to the same version as on Windows 2003.

    6.  Continue and finish all steps in the KB on step 2.

    7.  Run GP Utilities as administrator on Windows 2008.  Don't forget to copy your (modified) REPORTS.DIC over.

    8.  Launch GP.  If everything looks good, upgrade GP 10 to the SP which allows you to upgrade to GP2010.

    9. Run the upgrade.

    Hope this helps.

    Pragadees

its depend which steps you want to follow

    1) Upgrade GP10 to GP2010 and then move to new Server?

or first Move to new server and then upgrade GP10.

KB878449 will help you to move GP Database to new server; strictly follow this KB.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks

    Sandip
